More than 3,700 authors and publishers have been honored at the International Latino Book Awards in a variety of categories as the International Latino Book Awards continue the effort to promote and uplift Latinos voices in literature. The Award Winning Author seal is now recognized as a mark of quality in publishing, and the awards continue to grow every year in number of entries and winners, as well as in recognition. This year we are celebrating 25 years recognizing books by and about Latinos.

Eleven categories have been named for past winners who have forged the path for writers in the Latino community, including the best-selling Chilean author Isabel Allende, the first Latino U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera, the late great padrino of Chicano literature Rodolfo Anaya, and the community activist Dolores Huerta.

Participating authors are invited to represent Latino writers in educational and community events around the USA, such as the American Library Association conference, CABE, UnidosUS, our Latino Book & Family Festivals, and the International Book Fair in Guadalajara, Mexico. The International Latino Book Awards also selects four Rising Star Honorees—one from each of the main categories: Children’s, Nonfiction, Fiction, and Poetry books. All Gold Medal winners are considered for this award that includes a check for $1,000, distribution of an article about their book, and press releases focusing on the four Rising Stars as the next generation of ‘must-read’ authors.

Enter your book(s) in the 2023 International Latino Book Awards; the deadline for submissions is April 15, 2023. Please visit www.LatinoBookAwards.org for more details on how to participate and to view the 2022 Awards Ceremony and past winners. Visit our website for the link to join an Informational webinar On March 16, 2023, at 2 p.m. Pacific time for more and to learn more about Empowering Latino Future’s efforts.

Thanks for being a part of literature efforts to improve our communities. We look forward to your involvement. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions.

We invite you to read these books by last year’s winning authors.
