Mayor Duggan joined local leaders this week to announce that KRONK Gym is returning to Detroit this summer.
One of the most legendary names in boxing, KRONK Gym will be making its long-awaited return to the city since it closed due to COVID in 2020.
KRONK Gym was founded in Detroit by the legendary trainer Emanuel Steward and quickly rose to global prominence by developing champions like Thomas Hearns, Lennox Lewis, and Wladimir Klitschko.
The world-renowned training ground of champions will officially reopen its doors at the Brewster Wheeler Recreation Center at 670 Wilkins later this summer.
The new ownership, with the continued involvement of Steward’s family members Marie Steward and Sylvia Steward-Williams and several of KRONK’s original world champions, is committed to reigniting the spirit of its founder.
