Over Memorial Day weekend, thousands of music lovers descended on downtown Detroit for Movement 2025, the city’s internationally acclaimed electronic music festival.
Now in its 24th year, the three-day celebration – which was founded as the Detroit Electronic Music Festival – returned to Hart plaza, drawing a massive crowd from across Detroit and around the world to honor the city’s past, present, and future through the universal language of music.
This year’s lineup paid tribute to Detroit’s status as the “Birthplace of Techno” while also showcasing the next generation of electronic artists. Movement’s six stages featured the sounds of Detroit’s own Sillygirlcarmen, Ashton Swinton, and the local ghettotech group Hitech. The festival’s headliners brought international star power to Hart Plaza, with performances by Zack Fox, A$AP Ferg, Sara Landry and HorsegiirL.
The three-day music festival brought together longtime residents and visitors in a shared celebration for and of Detroit, fostering connections and reinforcing community bonds. Movement 2025 proved once again that Detroit’s influ- ence on global music culture remains as strong as ever, with the city continuing to nurture both its legendary past and its innovative future
