The local Southwest Detroit firm AGI Construction will host an open house at its Design-Build Green Hub, an incubating space for minority contractors and local stakeholders, which will open its doors in Spring 2023. The open house will be featured as part of the annual Detroit Month of Design.
Attendees will learn about the design-build project from the team and through an interactive experience with TV screens showcasing the future “If these walls could talk exhibit” and engagement boards.
There will also be the opportunity to try out the Virtual Reality tour as visitors walk around the property.
Weaved into the displays will be the story of the building’s restoration and local involvement in the design-build process, as well as narratives collected since the property was purchased in 2017. They will be guided through the lens of design-build experts to incorporate ideas into the final implementation. There will also be information on the goals for the project and how people can get involved.
“We are excited to be part of the 2022 Detroit Month of Design,” said Tanya Saldivar-Ali, Business Development Director for AGI.
The Green Hub Open House will welcome visitors on Friday, September 16 from 12pm to 5pm and on Saturday, September 17 from 1pm to 5pm. In addition, partner workshops will be presented featuring 3-D printing, green storm water management practices and activating green alleys.
The Design-Build Green Hub is located at 1326 18th Street, Detroit, MI 48216.
