Detroit Riverfront Park Construction Updates
Progress continues on Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park
Crews have made tremendous progress on the four zones within Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park during the last several months of 2024.
Here’s a quick look at the progress:
At the Delta Dental Play Garden, foundations for the last two play structures have been poured. All slides have been installed and the tree houses are currently being constructed. The water tank for the fountains at the Gilbert Family Foundation Water Wonderland has also been installed.
The cover for the large skylight at the William Davidson Sport House has been placed and the concrete floor has been poured. The athletic play surface will be installed in the spring.
Grading of the DTE Foundation Hill and open green space close to Rosa Parks Boulevard is complete. Tree planting began in this area this past fall and will continue this spring. Currently, more than 200 trees have been planted throughout the site.
Final shaping of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks Water Garden is complete and it is ready for landscaping.
Concrete has been placed for the Riverwalk pathway closest to the river. The asphalt top course will be placed next spring.
Through the winter months, interior work will continue at the East and West Comfort Stations.
The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy looks forward to the fall of this year when the entire community will be invited to celebrate the grand opening of Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park.
