The twelve-week paid opportunity offers undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited college or university. This is a unique program where students join us from all backgrounds and areas of study gain exposure to the museum industry under the guidance of DIA professionals. Interns will work on-site, up to 24 hours per week, beginning in June.

- Accounting – Intern will gain an understanding of finance and accounting work in a non-profit museum environment. Projects will involve working on Audit Preparation, drafting of Policy and Procedures, fund accounting,
- Curatorial – Africa, Oceania, and Indigenous Americas – Intern will gain an understanding of curatorial work in an encyclopedic museum. The intern will research the history and provenance (ownership history) of the DIA’s permanent collection objects.
- Curatorial – Modern and Contemporary – Research the history of the DIA’s German Expressionist collection and the reception of German modern art in support of an exhibition proposal. The intern will also contribute to the documentation of the DIA’s Modern and Contemporary Art collection.
- Development (Donor Relations) – The Development Intern will gain an understanding of philanthropy, how it impacts the DIA, and how the development team recognizes and stewards donors.
- Development Events – The intern will assist the Events Officer with all aspects of events planning and execution.
- Director’s Office -. Projects will involve working on SharePoint site updates, special projects, and learning about operational duties such as filing, and administrative support.
- Exhibitions – Intern will support our exhibitions planning and implementation process development project and will have opportunities to support the development of standard operating procedures and understand the intricate details of exhibitions processes at a major museum.
- Human Resources – Projects will involve working on recruitment and hiring processes, operations tasks, COVID management protocols, HR projects and initiatives, and learning about operational duties such as filing, compliance, and administrative support.
- IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) – Projects will involve working on IDEA projects and initiatives, including events, and learning about operational duties such administrative support and planning.
- Research Library & Archives – Projects may involve cataloguing artist files, assisting with cataloguing of books, creating archive inventories, conducting shelf reads, converting legacy finding aids to digital, and assisting with reference requests, among others.
