The survey will gather information about arts and culture organizations founded, led by, and serving Latinx/é people across the United States and Puerto Rico.
SAN ANTONIO – The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) is excited to announce the launch of the National Latinx/é Arts & Culture Survey. The survey is conducted in partnership with NORC at the University of Chicago with support from the Wallace Foundation.
“The survey is the next phase of NALAC’s research in support of Latinx/é artists and organizations,” said NALAC Manager of Research Lucila Lagace. “Through the survey, we can gather more inclusive data about the contributions of thousands of Latinx/é artists and organizations in the U.S. who often remain unknown and underrepresented in the U.S. cultural sector.”
The survey will expand on NALAC’s 2019 National Assessment of the Latinx Arts Field, which focused on creating a comprehensive inventory, detailed profile, and assessment of existing organizational statistics and data and is aimed at surveying a broader and more representative sample of Latinx/é arts and culture organizations.
Based on survey findings, NALAC will develop resources, including an interactive digital toolkit intended to assist arts and cultural organizations in their advocacy efforts. Survey participation and responses will inform these resources and help ensure they meet the needs of arts and culture organizations and provide better data to funders and decision-makers, as well as boost local, regional, and national advocacy efforts to ensure the arts and culture sector is equitably resourced and well-funded across the United States and Puerto Rico.
The survey is now open and will close in April 2025. Latinx/é arts and culture organizations across the United States and Puerto Rico are encouraged to register to participate in the survey.
