Argentina

Argentina is known for its Beef, its empanadas, its tangos and Gardel; The vast territorial
extension conglomerates an endless number of sites and exceptional places, such as the ruins of Jujuy and Quilmes, the Andean mountain range, the Iguazú waterfalls, as well as the majestic Patagonia with its Tierra de Fuego and the Land of the End of the World. In the extreme south of the continent, Argentina contains a diverse number of ecosystems that go from the forests, glaciers, desert, its long coastal zone, as well as its jungle with its great waterfalls.

With its capital Buenos Aires by the Atlantic Ocean, which has given to the city its unique port identity, this is the reason that the gentilic of those who are born and live in Buenos Aires is Porteños. The marine character of the city has given it a nostalgic and passionate feeling that is reflected in its tangos.

The majestic Iguazu Falls with more than 250 waterfalls in the Paranaense Jungle at the
mouth of the Iguazu River in the waters of the Paraná River, on the border that joins the cities of
Puerto Iguazú on the Argentine side; Foz do Iguaçu on the Brazilian side; and the urban
conglomerate Ciudad del Este/Presidente Franco, on the Paraguayan side. The falls extend for almost two miles in length and their jumps fall from a height that can reach up to 82 meters (269 feet).

And although it is little known, Argentina also has sites of pre-Hispanic architecture, which since 1910 historians, scholars, archaeologists, scientists and activists have pushed for the protection, restoration and recovery of sites that give visibility to the great cultures that settled before the arrival of the Europeans to the American continent.

Tilcara, Jujuy
Tilcara is located in the Jujuy province of Argentina, by the Rio Grande in a mountainous desert region. Tilcara is located just 3 hours by car from the northern border with Bolivia and 6 hours by car from the western border with Chile.

Tilcara hides one of the architectural wonders of Argentina in the desert at 3,180 meters above sea level.

There is some evidence that has been found that this region was inhabited since 10,000 years ago by different peoples, including the more recents: Quechuas, Uquías, Incas and Tilcaras between the years 1000 and 1480 AD.

Visitors who come to Tilcara look for the Quebrada de Humahuaca and the Pucará.

The Quebrada de Humahuaca is the name given to the mountainous landscape that surrounds the valley of the town of Tilcara. The Humahuaca Ravine shows in its mountain range the transition of colors that go from the light shades of yellow in its transition to the different colors of ochre.

The Pucará is the historical archaeological site that can be visited in Tilcara itself.
Tilcara also has a botanical garden that is definitely worth visiting.
