Last Thursday, July 25, only four days after President Joe Biden announced that he was withdrawing as a candidate for re-election, Eva Garza Dewaelsche, owner and publisher of EL CENTRAL Hispanic News and President and CEO of SER Metro-Detroit, Jobs for Progress, attended a social event for national Latino leaders hosted by Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff at the official Vice President’s residence in Washington, D.C. The outdoor event was sponsored by the Voto Latino Foundation led by Voto Latino President and CEO Maria Teresa Kumar.

“I am honored to have been invited to meet with Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband during such an important time in our nation’s history,” Garza Dewaelsche said. “When I met the vice president, I let her know how much Latinos need her leadership right now, and she responded, she needs our help to win in November!”
