Congratulations to LA SED for an other successful Recognition Luncheon held Thursday, May 4th at the MGM Grand Detroit. Attended by over 400 people, the luncheon is a wonderful way to celebrate community members that have made an impact in our Southwest Detroit community. This year’s keynote speaker was Laura Grannemann, Executive Director of Rocket Community Fund and the Gilbert Family Foundation, who said “We need to choose everyday to believe in a better future and work together to make a new reality.” LA SED, and the community they serve, work together toward that vision of a brighter future.
This year’s awardees were:
Juanita Hernandez, Board of Directors Award, recognizing her 50+ years on the LA SED Board of Directors
Dominga Solis, Senior Citizen of the Year
Shelzy Lupercio-Cervantes, Youth of the Year Award
Special recognition was given to Edith Colon, who retired from LA SED last year after 47 years of service!
