A tearful Justin Verlander addressed the crowd at Comerica Friday evening prior to the game. His declaration that he would always “be a Tiger” was met with a roar of cheers and fireworks at the ceremony.
Alex Avila, former Tiger Catcher spoke at the ceremony.

Saturday’s game was an incredible script for JV’s retirement appearance. The Tigers and MLB did a script that was live. The “script” captured the essence of baseball’s generational nature. EL CENTRAL Hispanic News was on the field 2006 and in the photo well for his first game at Comerica.

Twenty-one years later EL CENTRAL was there to witness how perfectly the Tigers captured the event. Baseball has always been  about families, sitting in the stands or staring at a TV, there is something special about watching the game with a son or daughter. The popular baseball films  ‘Field of Dreams’ or “For the Love of the Game” were played out with actors. Last Friday and Saturday were LIVE and the star was JV, but the same drama. There is nothing like sitting in the stands next to people that you care about, not bored, not talking, just there, and then all hell breaks loose and a player makes a special move, a HR or even better a triple…. for 21 years it has been EL CENTRAL’s  honor to provide news coverage at Comerica and try to capture with a camera this sport.

Last weekend, a video of Verlander’s 7 year-old daughter, Genevieve, charging the mound on a signal from Tiger Manager AJ Hinch. The heartwarming hug on the pitching mound, father and daughter was the most played sports video clip in the world and the FANS and this baseball nation loved it. Good job Tigers / JV

Las películas de béisbol populares “Field of Dreams” o “For the Love of the Game” fueron representadas con actores. Buen trabajo Tigers / JV.
