KIWI- Stoop Lee w/ Curtis Roach & Datsunn

A vibey jam blended in hip-hop and heavily rooted in soul music that reminds us of summertime gone by, “KIWI” unites Stoop Lee (born Ade Olaniran) with Curtis Roach (who reached TikTok fame from Tyga’s pandemic-era remix of “Bored in the House”) and producer Datsunn.

ICNBYH- Cuco

“ICNBYH” (I Could Never Break Your Heart) feels like a summertime daydream—smooth, warm, and wrapped in that old-school lowrider soul sound, but with Cuco’s modern twist.

“ICNBYH” (I Could Never Break Your Heart) se siente como un sueño de verano: suave, cálido y envuelto en ese soul de lowrider a la vieja escuela, pero con el giro moderno de Cuco.

3 AM ON VERNOR – Gabriel Duran

Chopped vocals and Detroit electro drums. It’s a streetcorner serenade that thumps like a techno track. Plus, Isaiah Johns’ (@isayhah) music video is a soulful, frenetic masterpiece.

ALAMBRE PúA runs on soft conga tones, a whispering shaker, and an airy, melancholic synth line—heartbreak you can still dance to.

Chilean-born street artist Dasic Fernández is known for monumental, photorealistic murals that honor everyday life and working-class resilience. Commissioned by Hacienda Mexican Foods owner Lydia Gutierrez, his Hand of the Peasant Labor depicts her late father-in-law Fernando Gutierrez — founder of La Michoacana Tortilleria and Mexican Village — as a tower- ing symbol of migrant pride.

Roasted poblano pepper stuffed with picadillo (seasoned ground beef, apples, nuts, and apricots), smothered in a creamy white walnut sauce, and topped with bright pomegranate. The colors red, white, and green mirror the Mexican flag, making it one of the most patriotic plates you’ll ever eat. Available all September, only in Detroit.

In 1952, Lithuanian Hall stood as a gathering place for Detroit’s immigrant families. Later, it housed Hispanos Unidos, serving the growing Latino community. More than 70 years later, it’s entering a new chapter as a hub for music, food, and community as Candela Detroit.
