Ford Field – Detroit, MI, will be the venue for the 2027 Final Four NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Michigan State University will be the official host NCAA institution. The Men’s Final Four is the third most exciting sporting event of the year, behind the Super Bowl and NBA Finals.

The event will be held on April 3 & 5, 2027. The economic impact of the event is hard to judge, however in 2009, the Final Four was held at Ford Field for the first time and the direct economic impact was estimated to be as high as $50 Millon for the City of Detroit. In 2009, the host was the University of Detroit – Mercy, and the Michigan State University Spartans Men’s Basketball team played in semi- final and final game possibly increasing the impact.

On December 19, 2025, the Detroit Local Organizing Committee gathered at Ford Field to reveal the logo for the 2027 event. “The 2027 Men’s Final Four° logo serves as a tribute to Detroit’s heritage and toughness. Designed by Section 127, the logo draws inspiration from the city’s street signs, auto tags, and industrial roots. The “313” area code reflects Detroit’s deep sense of pride and place, while the basketball- record graphic nods to Hitsville and the city’s Motown legacy. The brackets frame “Detroit,” visually reinforcing the city as the center of the celebration.”

Among the presenters at the Logo reveal on December 19, 2025 was Tom Izzo, MSU Basketball Coach. Izzo had the guests laughing when he recalled the 2009 request by the Detroit Chief of Police to allow officers working on security details for the Championship game on Monday vs. UNC to attend what is normally a very closed and secret practice the day before the game.

When the team came down the tunnel at Ford Field for the practice, Izzo expected a dozen or so officers, to his surprise, there were at least 200+ uniformed officers seated and the players were frightened that there was some kind of legal trouble. Izzo ended his comments with a statement that he wanted 2027 to be the “greatest Final Four ever” For more information, please visit: https://tinyurl.com/5zxx7ec4
