Over 30 Metro Detroit Organizations Unite in Historic Coalition to Defend Democracy

NO KINGS - DETROIT

In an extraordinary show of unity not seen before in metro Detroit’s civic history, 32 diverse organizations spanning labor unions, grassroots advocacy groups, civil rights coalitions, environmental defenders, and community organizations have joined forces under a single banner: No Kings-Detroit.

On Saturday, March 28, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Grand Circus Park in Detroit, these organizations will stand together, along with millions of Americans around the country, in a powerful public declaration that democracy is not for sale — and will not be surrendered.

The coalition represents a breadth and depth of collaboration that organizers say is genuinely unprecedented. From suburban Indivisible chapters in Ferndale, Rochester, Grosse Pointe, Macomb County, and the Downriver communities, to Detroit-based groups rooted in labor rights, environmental justice, immigrant advocacy, reproductive freedom, and anti-fascist organizing — the breadth of this alliance reflects a shared conviction that threats to democracy require a unified response that crosses every boundary of geography, ideology, and issue.

“What makes this moment historic is not just the number of organizations,” said Audrey Bourriad, organizer of the coalition. “It is the fact that groups who have never before shared a stage are now sharing a mission. We have labor standing with environmental advocates, suburban residents standing with urban activists, and progressives standing with nonpartisan voter protection groups. That is the kind of coalition democracy demands right now.”

No Kings-Detroit gives everyone the opportunity to show their concerns. When our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink, silence is not an option. We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence. America does not belong to strongmen, greedy billionaires, or those who rule through fear. It belongs to us, the people.

WHAT: No Kings-Detroit — A Rally for Democracy

WHEN: Saturday, March 28, 2025   |   3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

WHERE: Grand Circus Park, Detroit, Michigan

Defenderemos a nuestras comunidades frente a actos injustos y crueles.
