2024 has been another eventful year for the team at EL CENTRAL Hispanic News! This past year we brought home more recognition for our work in the form of five awards at the annual conference of the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP). In addition, We’ve expanded our print distribution area across the Detroit Metro Area into the downriver and northern suburbs.

Plus, we’ve ventured into a new media platform with WDET with the launch of our Spanish radio programming called Voz Latina! Look for our notices in print and on our website for information about online streaming schedules with content in Spanish from our weekly edition and other sources.

We take pride in bringing our readers the “most original” and “most local” stories for and about the Hispanic/Latino community and residents of Southwest Detroit and the metro area. Our contributors are from the community, so they know our community – which is what differentiates us from our peers.

Our team took the opportunity to gather last week for a holiday dinner at Armando’s Mexican Restaurant where we enjoyed each other’s stories as well as savory Caribbean dishes prepared by the staff at Armando’s! And everyone walked away with a new appreciation for the diversity and wealth of experience that our team brings to our work in sharing with our readers and followers trusted information and features each week.

The roster of EL CENTRAL team members and writers who contributed stories about our community this past year appears below. We all hope you continue to enjoy and benefit from the information we have shared with you. It is our commitment to bring even more local stories and resources to you in 2025.

Best wishes for a very blessed holiday season and a prosperous new year!
